Noroxin (norfloxacin) is a potent fluoroquinolone antibiotic prescribed for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Dosage and directions

The dosage of Noroxin varies depending on the type and severity of the bacterial infection being treated:

For UTI Treatment (Urinary Tract Infections): Take 400 mg of norfloxacin twice daily for 7 to 10 days. For uncomplicated cystitis, a shorter course of 3 to 7 days may be sufficient. In patients with recurrent chronic urinary infections, treatment may extend up to 12 weeks as determined by your physician.

For Prostatitis: The recommended daily dose is 800 mg, divided into two equal doses of 400 mg, taken for four weeks or as directed by your doctor.

Take Noroxin with a full glass of water, either two hours after a meal or one hour before eating. Contraindications

It must not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, children and adolescents under 18 years of age, or individuals with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. Special caution is required when administering norfloxacin to patients with cerebral arteriosclerosis, cerebrovascular dysfunction, epilepsy, epileptic syndrome, myasthenia gravis, or kidney or liver failure. Possible side effect

Common side effects of Noroxin include: weakness, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and stomach upset.

Rare but serious side effects that require immediate medical attention include:

- tremor, increased sun sensitivity, seizures;

- mental or mood changes (confusion, hallucinations, depression);

- sore throat with persistent fever;

- vision changes, hearing loss;

- changes in urine amount or appearance;

- jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes);
